The writing is on the wall ...

"Men Are Important!!!"

The report on Kick Start 2007 is now available for downloading

This site is one of the ways in which The Men's Project (an initiative within the Parents Advice Centre, Northern Ireland) is seeking to meet its aim of tackling the issues facing local men and boys. This is an organic site which changes regularly as new information becomes available. If you know of anything else that should be included, please contact us as soon as possible.

The site is divided into eight core parts and these, in turn, are subdivided. To help you navigate to the information that you require, here is a brief map of the site:

About Us - describes the background to The Men's Project, its aims and priorities, how it is managed and work undertaken/being pursued. This section includes access to information on the Kick Start initiative (an action learning training project to support work with fathers) and The Male Link (a cross-border, cross-community network of people who are interested in men's work and issues).

Issues - provides an overview of a range of issues facing local men. Some of these have been identified through our contact with groups/individuals across the north of Ireland. Others come from relevant reports and conference papers.

Facts - presents five statistical fact sheets on Men in Northern Ireland (MINI). These were collated by the ARK team within Queen's University Belfast and the University of Ulster, and are useful for general research purposes.

Directory - lists other groups/individuals who have an interest in work with men in the north of Ireland. This can be used to find support and allies.

Resources - gives an overview of the books/resources in The Men's Project library and collates links to some other relevant web sites. We hope that this will help to get you started or develop your work further.

Images - provides a range of black and white photographs from an exhibition entitled: "Images of Men". This was commissioned by The Men's Project and undertaken by young men associated with the Southern Education and Library Board Youth Service in Craigavon.

News - hosts a communal Bulletin Board for announcing up-and-coming events or requesting help or publicising a new initiative ... It is open to anyone working in this field.

Contact Us - gives the contact details of The Men's Project.
