Overview of Work/Interest:

The Alternatives to Physical Punishment Training is a project run in partnership with Save the Children UK. It offers training throughout Northern Ireland in alternatives to physical punishment, and associated issues, to workers who are involved with children and parents. Sessions are tailored to the needs of individual groups. Topics covered include:

  • The concept of physical punishment
  • How to deal with children's behaviour in a positive way
  • The law in Northern Ireland
  • European models of best practice
  • Understanding children
  • Family stress
