Overview of Work/Interest:

The 'Centre for Young Men's Studies' was launched in Autumn 2004. The action research project focuses on 3 strands:

  • Research
  • Practice
  • Training

The initial work focused on young men and violence and included a mapping of the position of young men in our society. The initial results were made available in Autumn 2005.

Dr Gary Bradley is an Associate Researcher.

The Centre is currently engaged in a 5 year longitudinal study with young males aged 12 - 16 years old in schools across Northern Ireland exploring youth transitions, education, masculinity and violence.
