Overview of Work/Interest: Community Connections is a community development project operating in the rural area of West Cavan, North Leitrim and West Fermanagh. Funded under the Community Development Support Programme, the project combines supporting and developing community groups with practical "grass roots" projects.

We have developed a rural transport project with over ten routes currently operational. This is now an independent company called "Rural Lift". We have also been responsible for the initiation and development of an Active Age project - now extended to seven groups.

Our work has a social inclusion, anti-poverty and equality focus. We also provide information and support to a number of community groups and development associations. In particular, we support the work of the North Leitrim and West Cavan Carers' Group, the North Leitrim Men's Group and the "Wee Jobs" initiative.

From November 1998, we have been working with the North Leitrim Men's Group, and assisted them to carry out a research project into how single men aged 35-64 are coping with life in North Leitrim.

The project produces 4 quarterly newsletters per year and a monthly 'information update' as well as co-producing a monthly newsletter for the Carers' groups and other publications as required.
