Overview of Work/Interest:

The Unit promotes gender and sexual orientation equality across the work of the Northern Ireland Executive, and co-ordinates work across departments to implement the Gender Equality Strategy.

The Executive's 10-year Gender Equality Strategy provides an overarching strategic policy framework within which departments, their agencies and other relevant statutory authorities will channel their existing actions and initiate new actions to achieve an agreed vision, guided by a set of principles and objectives aimed at tackling gender inequalities and promoting gender equality across government’s major policy areas for the benefit of both women and men generally.

The Unit is working with Departments in developing a Sexual Orientation Equality Strategy and action plan.
