Overview of Work/Interest:

MOVE Limerick works in the area of Domestic Violence. It aims to support the protection and wellbeing of women and their children by working with men who are, or have been, violent or abusive towards their female partners.

MOVE Limerick does this by facilitating men in a group process that involves them taking responsibility for their violence, helping them to change their attitudes and behaviours and stopping the violence.

MOVE Limerick's Definition of Domestic Violence
The physical, psychological, sexual, emotional, verbal, and/or economic abuse of one partner by another. This includes the threat of violence as well as the use of violence:

  • Safety: The safety of women and their children is paramount.
  • Respect: Men who come into contact with MOVE Limerick are treated with respect.
  • Change: MOVE Limerick believes that everyone has the potential for growth, and that changes in attitude and behaviour are possible.
