Dads Matter Project

The Dads Matter Project exists to provide support, specialist information and signposting to services. It also seeks to generate community spirit. It has three main aims:

1. To provide fathers, pre-fathers and significant male care providers (step-fathers/grandfathers) with a forum to express their hopes, concerns and expectations.
2. To develop programmes which will encourage fathers to play an active role in their child's/family's life.
3. To complement the existing work carried out by Shankill Sure Start.

Within our project we have men/fathers of all ages. We offer drop-ins, a young fathers' programme (for first time dads), Breakfast Clubs, trips away etc. We are also busy in other areas e.g. our schools programme and bridge building work.

Working with families is very rewarding and the response we have had from male carers has been very encouraging. We would like to extend an invite to all those dads living within the Greater Shankill area to get in touch.
