The Men's Project:
Membership of Steering Group

Site Image Map

Since the Men in the Family Conference in 1995, a core group of people met regularly to progress the idea for a men's initiative. With the appointment of the Development Officer in September 1998, some of the original members of this interim Management Committee felt that it was time to withdraw due to other commitments. These people included John Chambers (Relate), Bill Smith (Department of Health and Social Services), Niall Fitzduff (Rural Community Network) and Will Haire (Department of Economic Development). However, a few new people soon came on board.

The name of this body was also changed to "Steering Group" to reflect the changing responsibilities of members. During Year One of The Men's Project this forum was comprised of:

  • Roy Boreland - Involved in an individual capacity
  • Colin Dickenson - Greater Shankill Partnership
  • Gerard Doran - Southern Education and Library Board Youth Service
  • Colin Fowler - Development Worker for The Men's Project
  • Pip Jaffa - Parents Advice Centre
  • Deirdre Kenny - Department of Economic Development (from June 1999)
  • Francine O' Neill - Department of Economic Development (until June 1999)
  • Maggie Smith - Involved in an individual capacity
  • Phillips Wilson - Voluntary Activity Unit
